Kidlet is toward the middle of the second row from the bottom, looking down. At least she isn’t smacking another kid in the head, which is what’s happening two kids down from her.

So near and yet so spa

The very concept of a luxury holiday walks in hand with the mention of spa retreats, or spa orientated hotels.

Because, think about it for a moment, holidays are all about escapism and indulgence.

Many people want a ‘doing’ holiday, but I suspect many others are like me and view holidays as a means to get away and do very little other than rest, recuperate and unwind.

Does indulgence always equal something bad like over eating?

When looking towards indulgence some people like to combine the usual holiday rituals of eating, drinking and general merriment with a more balanced approach where the gymnasium and the spa help to alleviate any pangs of guilt from those aforementioned pleasures.

I feel that the spa breaches the gap between pleasure and guilt, being both hugely enjoyable as well as great for your own vitality. Soothing massages, relaxing facial treatments, body scrubs and hydrotherapy circuits are a great way to unwind after a day in the sun, offering the perfect ‘holiday for your body’.

Many top hotels will feature a spa on their premises – but quite a few featured branded hotel chains can offer a spa concept where this is the central focus of the hotel, often supported by spa cuisine restaurants where your treatments can be balanced by your intake of healthy and nutritious meals.

One such brand is the Six Senses hotels principally covering the Far East, with several outstanding resorts in Thailand – but also in desirable holiday destinations like the Maldives and Oman.

Six Senses resorts are all five star across the board – and offer sanctuary for the body and mind with the opportunity to discover treatments utilising locally sourced ingredients with traditional rituals put in place to soothe and revitalise.

If you’ve never had a spa treatment before and this is your first time, you’ll all of a sudden have extremely high standards of expectation four your second visit!

Hello, pleased to meet you.

Are You Celebrating Your Achievements?

It’s funny how when we finish school we seem to stop celebrating our achievements. Some daycare centers have a little graduation before the children move into kindergarten. Then you have elementary school, junior high, high school, college and university. That’s quite a few graduations of turning points and reasons to celebrate!

For many once school is behind them, they stop celebrating their achievements. Our personal, professional and spiritual lives are filled with accomplishments. It’s important to not only acknowledge, but also to rejoice in your successes no matter how big or small they might seem.

Maybe you got the job you were looking at or the promotion you wanted, or you left work and started your own business. Perhaps you bought a new or used car, made a move or took a course you’ve wanted to attend. You may have joined a gym or started an exercise program. You might have moved on from a relationship or made a commitment to stay and work on it.

Have you started going to church and/or meditating, eating healthier, stopped an addiction? Perhaps you didn’t yell or react to your children, spouse or co-worker the way you usually do, or you didn’t lose your temper, or you found humor in what seems like a serious situation.

You see that no matter how big or small something may seem they are all successes. Your growth is worth acknowledging and celebrating. It doesn’t have to be a celebration with boom bands playing, tuxedos, fancy dresses, parties, and fine dining.

Although, wouldn’t it be something if someone asked you, “What’s all the celebrating about?” Your response might be, “I held my temper today and breathed instead”. Okay, so there aren’t any marching bands, parades, hand shakes or certificates for many of your achievements, turning points and expansion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a few moments out of the day and jot them down, does it?

Making the time to write down a few achievements is a great start to acknowledging all the things you do each day. After a month of daily recognitions, take a look and see all the ways you have grown, developed, expanded and helped others. You are worth celebrating and the steps you are taking deserve at least a gold star!

The Daily Shoot #ds144 – Put down your big, fancy camera today. Fully engage your artistic side by making a photo with minimal gear.

I rarely use my "big" camera anyways. We took the long way to daycare this morning and were lucky enough to see a train come into town. The boys loved it. I like all the colors in this shot.

Lucia has beein struggling with ear infections over the past few weeks, which has meant a few trips to the doctor and the pharmacy. During one of our visits to the pharmacy, she discovered bandages for kids. She has already blown through one box of Dora the explorer bandaids (which she shared with her friends at daycare). Now she’s working on My Little Pony ones.
