Founded in 1966, the Association for Children with Down Syndrome (ACDS) provides lifetime resources for individuals with Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities, as well as their families. Children are integrated into classrooms which contain both disabled and non-disabled children. The ACDS staff features individuals who have worked within the program for 20 years and are able to provide the children with such things as diagnostic evaluations, daycare, special education, and physical therapy. The program is not limited to children; ACDS also includes adult programs and has opened seven distinct adult homes. ACDS strives to teach people with Down Syndrome and other disabilities an easier way of life through their integrated programs.
