The Danforth can have it all: protected bike lanes, on-street parking, and four travel lanes, with little impact on motor vehicle traffic capacity.
Cycle Toronto’s Jared Kolb rides to work on the Danforth every morning after dropping his daughter off at daycare. And he’s not alone: our local ward advocacy group did bike counts in June 2018 showing bikes at 21% mode share during the evening rush hour.
Unlike many main streets, the Danforth actually has space for bike lanes! The vacant space between parked cars and motor vehicle lanes signals an invitation to build high-quality bike infrastructure.
People are riding. Now it’s time for the infrastructure to catch up. Let’s get bike lanes on the Danforth: https://www.cycleto.ca/danforth-loves-bikes
