The purpose of the training was to review common childhood illnesses that trigger exclusion from childcare centers, and to discuss best practices and obstacles to adhering to best practices.
The presenter addressed the common infectious illnesses that the daycare providers are likely to encounter. Information covered included etiology, modes of transmission, infectiousness, recommended treatments, and recommendations for exclusion from, and if indicated return to daycare. The subject matter targeted specific areas of interest or concern identified by the initial survey.
This instruction was followed by an open and interactive discussion among the attendees and instructor regarding best practices, and potential obstacles to best practices they feel they may be most likely to experience within their own specific setting. A brief summary included references for reviewing the covered material including the presentation slides and pertinent online and print resources.
