Daycare in the Community

General Questions
Once you have determined what kind of day-care facility you will put your child in, you should also look at a number of factors which will verify if the facility is what you are looking for. Here are some important questions a parent should ask:

Are their operating hours amenable with your working hours? Do they allow late pick up and do they implore a penalty fee for such?

Who will they allow to drop off and pick up the child? What kind of identification do they need from the person picking-up the child?

Are they open on holidays? If yes, is there a special rate for such occasions?

Do they have substitute teachers or caregivers in the event that the regular teacher is on leave?

What is their policy on discipline? Do they advise the parents of the child’s misdemeanour?

Do they have a policy on illness, and is an authorization required before they can give prescription medicines? Do they have a place to keep medicines?

Check the day-care centre’s facilities. Do they have fire extinguishers, fire exits, fire alarms, and smoke detectors? Is their equipments child friendly (no sharp objects or furnitures with corners, and the like)? Can the children easily access the reading materials? Is the outdoor play area in good condition and properly fenced? Does the play area have soft flooring in case a child falls or stumbles? Does the centre keep cleaning materials or harmful substances in a place that the children cannot reach?

Is transportation provided by the day-care centre? If yes, what type of vehicle do they use? Do they have car seats for infant and toddlers, and booster seats for preschoolers?

Do they have a schedule for activities?

Are there field trips and will there be an extra cost for such?

Are the teachers and caregivers cheerful, and do they wear a smile? Do the children in the centre look happy? Is the teacher or caregiver able to speak with the children at eye level?

Do they post the art work of the children on the walls?

Do they have time for naps and how do they handle children who do not want to sleep? Is there an appropriate sleeping area for the children and infants?

Corporate Daycare
Based on statistics, inadequate day-care is one of the main reasons for a company’s loss in productivity and man hours. So, why not use this information can be used to urge your employer to provide an on-site day-care centre? It will not only benefit you but your employer as well. If you work in a retail company, you can recommend having a customer drop-off in the day-care centre, like what is being done in other places like Britain. A supermarket in Britain has practiced this for years, as they’ve learned that parents and other customers prefer shopping without distractions. Accordingly, customers who use the drop-off tend to spend more time and money in shopping.

Parade Float
Why not join a local parade? Make a float with blown-up art works of the children at the day-care centre at its sides. You can also create a banner with the children’s handprints on it.

Finding Time to Volunteer
Finding time to do volunteer work is always a good way to give back to the community. Even if you have a full-time job, you can devote an hour or two of your rest day to do something good for others. For example, you can make baked goodies and drop them off with your child at the day-care centre on one of your days off. Some day-care centres operate using public funds, and may benefit from simple acts of generosities like a good carpet shampoo. Ask how you or other parents can help, but do not promise more that what you can give. Even if you can only share a little of your time, it will be valuable to the person or group you are sharing it to.

Car Donation Alert – Off Lease Only, 99 Jamz & The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Team Up to Give Back to a Community Hero

Miami, Florida (PRWEB) August 28, 2014

Join National Celebrity and Radio Host Rickey Smiley, Miss Kimmy & 99 Jamz this Thursday at 4pm when Used Car Giant Off Lease Only presents the surprise of a lifetime! The deserving Liberty City couple have dedicated themselves to helping others their entire life. They will be rewarded for their amazing community involvement a 2007 Ford Freestar minivan donated by Off Lease Only. This heartfelt event will take place this Thursday, August 28th at 4 p.m. at Off Lease Only’s Miami location.

The Holloways – who don’t own a vehicle — were chosen because of their dire need and Charles Holloway’s extensive volunteerism in the community he loves. Both Charles and Beverly want nothing more than to give back and never ask for anything.

The Holloways walk or take public transportation everywhere. Charles Holloway knows about the minivan but his wife Beverly will be taken by surprise.

At age 61, Charles Holloway takes night classes 5 days a week at the non-profit Urban Construction Craft Academy where he’s learning skills to get a better job. As part of the program, he volunteers in his community, making home repairs for needy seniors, repairing church roofs, or sometimes even pruning trees. To get to his classes, he bikes, rides the bus and takes the train. The trek takes nearly two hours each way. His wife Beverly takes the bus and train to get to her job at a daycare center at Miami Children’s Hospital.

Bill Dozier, who founded the Urban Construction Craft Academy, recommended Charles Holloway to receive the minivan.

“When I got the call about someone who would be worth this blessing, the only person I could think of was Charles,” said Bill Dozier. “When he found out what you guys are doing for him, he started crying. He said, ‘This can’t be true. Nothing like this has ever happened to me.’ I said, ‘You have the biggest heart we know.’”

Off Lease Only owner Mark Fischer said Holloway’s story touched his soul.

“This gentleman only thinks about others. When he was told he would be the recipient of our next car giveaway, not only did he start crying, but he also started trying to figure out everyone that he could help with his new set of wheels,” Fischer said. “This van will not only help the Holloways, Charles is already planning on helping as many of his co-volunteers that need rides as well. He has a truly beautiful soul and being in a position to give back makes my wife and me very proud.”

Charles Holloway’s voice quavers when he talks about the minivan. He can’t wait to see the look of delight on his wife’s face on Thursday. He learned about the minivan last week when Dozier took him by the radio station and they surprised him with the amazing news.

“It’s hard to describe how much joy this brings,” Charles Holloway said. “I believe prayer changes things, and when I say my prayers, I put it all in His hands. He had to hear my prayers because there is no way I could have dreamed this. My wife says just believe in your prayers.”

With the minivan, the Holloways can grocery shop, even if it rains; take elderly relatives to the doctor instead of relying on a Medivan; and even enjoy a picnic on the beach. Charles Holloway will no longer have to spend nearly four hours in transit getting to-and-from class.

Off Lease Only offers the largest selection of quality pre-owned cars for sale ranging from under $ 10,000 to $ 100,000+. Mark & Eileen Fischer built this business twenty years ago with two cars that they bought off their life savings. Selling cars thousands below retail and caring about every customers happiness has been key to their success and the reason why they have grown to the largest volume independent car dealer in the Nation. No dealer fees, no negotiating and no commissioned sales people are just a few more features that set Off Lease Only apart from the rest.
