Brain Injury Compensation
Sustaining a brain or serious head injury is probably one of the most traumatic times that anyone could experience. It can leave those who were once living a fully independent life relying on round the clock care for the rest of their lives; having to learn the most basic functions that most of us take for granted every day.
However, it is possible to rebuild your life after having suffered a brain injury – as many have proved.
If your accident was caused as a result of someone else’s negligence, then you could be eligible to make a claim for brain injury compensation. There are many serious injury law firms out there that have solicitors that are committed to help clients make claims for brain injury compensation. They have a specific expert knowledge on all the complexities surrounding serious brain injuries – both on a legal and on a medical scale.
While you may think that making a claim for brain injury compensation is strictly about getting compensation on a financial basis, it isn’t. It will offer so much more.
Due to the sensitive nature and difficulty that can be encountered by both the victim of brain or serious head injury and their families in the aftermath, many serious injury law firms offer much more than just making a claim for financial compensation.
Many, as well as providing legal assistance, will help secure private rehabilitation, provide expert advice on housing adaptations that need to be made, provide the victim with a means of communicating if needed, help with transport issues – such as providing adapted vehicles or wheelchairs. Financial compensation may not seem like much compensation in what is a traumatic situation but it could help secure a better future.
When choosing a solicitor, when making a brain injury compensation claim, there are some key factors that should be considered.
As mentioned previously, the solicitor must be a specialist. Having a solicitor that is not a specialist in making brain injury compensation claims is a risk that just shouldn’t be considered. The kind of previous experience a solicitor has can be determined by simply asking them what kind of cases they have dealt with before.
It is best when seeking out a solicitor to go to a serious injury law firm that is regulated by the Law Society. For individual solicitors, if they have accreditations specific to the field of brain injuries, such as being accredited by Headway (the brain injury association) or (if involving children) the Child Brain Injury Trust, then again this is a good indication of experience in the field.
Also important to ask is how many cases the solicitor you may choose is dealing with. A solicitor working on many cases at once is more likely to pay less attention to your individual case. If this is the case, it probably isn’t advisable to choose this kind of solicitor. As already stated, brain injuries are complex and so are brain injury compensation cases, what is needed is a solicitor that is fully committed to securing your claim.
Although it may seem so at first, making a brain injury compensation claim really isn’t so daunting. The extra services that many serious injury law firms have to offer show that making a claim really isn’t just about the money.
It’s about helping a victim rebuild their life.

Day to day busy schedules at the office and home can leave one feeling as if his/her life has lost meaning.
It’s like life has become all work and no play. Deadlines, emails, paperwork, appointments, taking care of others, as well as housework and yard-work can leave you feeling overworked, stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted and even empty.
So how do we bring meaning back to our lives, if it was ever there to begin with?
1. Replenish yourself. Due to busy lifestyles at home and work, it’s important to take time to replenish yourself.
It’s vital to our well being to nurture and take care of ourselves physically, emotionally, and most importantly, spiritually so that we are not left feeling defeated and depleted, instead restoring and renewing a space of harmony.
2. Connect with friends. Since work and family come first, it can be challenging to find time to spend with friends.
It’s important to make time to let your hair down and forget about all the work and enjoy some recreation time.
Whether it’s going out to lunch, dinner, a show, the spa, having a BBQ, or playing golf, etc., what’s important is you are out of the routines and enjoying time with your friends. Laughing, chatting, cheering, sharing and most importantly, enjoying camaraderie.
3. R & R. We need rest and relaxation from demanding days. It doesn’t have to be a vacation per say, but taking some time to put your feet up, unwind, and de-stress.
When you do things from a space of relaxation rather than stress, you are more productive, more creative, calmer, and happier.
Even if you love your job and it doesn’t feel like work it’s still important to take time to rest.
4. Ask for help. This can be a tough one for many people. Asking for assistance sometimes feels as if you’re needy, like you can’t do it, that you’re weak, or can’t handle things.
Not wanting to ask can also be because of the expectation that a person “should” just help without you having to request it. The problem with this is if you don’t ask, guess what? You probably aren’t going to receive any assistance and are left feeling resentful or angry.
Delegating is not only productive, but beneficial. It leaves time for you to do what’s of the utmost importance and is vital because it frees up time for you to take care of you.
5. Connect with nature. It’s essential to connect with the pulse of nature.
Since the majority of our time is spent indoors, unless of course you have an outdoor job, (but then you are still working), you aren’t reaping the benefits of expanding your inner energies with fresh air, sunshine, and the union with the natural world.
Listen to the birds, watch the animals, see and smell the flowers, soak up the warm rays of sunshine, breathe in the fresh air, and gaze at blue skies, float away with the clouds, get your feet wet in nearby lakes or oceans, hug a tree, or lay on a hammock or lawn chair.
These tranquil times revitalize the body, mind, and most importantly, spirit.
6. Meditate. When you meditate you are connecting to the silence within. You are moving away from thoughts and into a sacred space of union.
You are resting in God’s hands, peacefully and fully. You are aware of the oneness, rather than the separateness.
In this breathing space there is complete freedom, purpose, love, support, joy and peace.
Often after meditating, even if only for a few minutes, you feel relaxed, creative, renewed, centered and balanced. It’s as if harmony is restored once again.
7. Find something you love and do more of it.
Whether you love to play golf, going to the spa, yoga, exercising, painting, writing, reading, photography, etc. make time to do more of it.
It’s important you spend time doing things you enjoy because it promotes a feeling of meaningfulness.
If you don’t have any hobbies or interests explore different avenues. Remember, you never know unless you try; infact you might surprise yourself as to what you find enjoyable. The true meaning of life is to fill it with as much enjoyment, kindness, forgiveness, love, patience, and peace as possible.
When we look at problems as possibilities, we are allowing ourselves and others to grow, learn and expand exactly the way we are.

Peace of mind affords you the ability to progress anything you desire with inner contentment and harmony.
When you have peace of mind, you are co-operating with your own internal energy source. This then allows you to express yourself in a unique way, an individual way that reflects your own personality.
Various research organizations around the world have discovered that lack of “Peace of the Mind” over a prolonged period could lead to illnesses such as mental disorders, stress, panic attacks, depression, anxiety, restlessness, sleeplessness and overeating.
In some cases, the prescription has been some “long doses of practical therapy on acquiring peace of mind” without any need for medication. In other cases, depending on the level and intensity of the illness, medication is administered in combination with therapy treatments.
When you are true to yourself, you are producing and emitting a very powerful energy that attracts like bees, because this intelligence within you will glow as “original”, it’s hot and it’s brilliant.
OK, let me just illustrate this with some examples:
We know that all over the world, people generally admire original work, for example, an original painting will be admired closely by those who are interested and highly motivated in this area of work.
The World Famous Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo da Vinci, painted between 1503-1506 is still fascinating to this day, due to the unique and subtle modelling of forms and qualities, which gives it that “original” personal creativity that people love.
And people still admire this creative work with curiosity as to what was going on in the Creators mind when he was painting this masterpiece. It’s not surprising that this admiration for Mona Lisa still goes on, many years after Leonardo’s death in the year 1519.
Another example is the case of entertainment shows like Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent, which has captured the world all over. These ideas were pure creative thoughts starting from the “Mind at Peace with Itself” of the Creators.
The same would apply to original Music, Creative speeches such as President Obama’s famous Speech in 2004 in Boston, Massachusetts, well before he was elected or any other work that is purely original.
So, the interest generated by those who take time and make the best efforts to create from within is usually Captivating and Magnetic.
For example, if you go back, right back to the principal of anything in life, being creative and true to yourself is fascinating and enjoyable, because you could do it all day without noticing time go by and without strain or anxiety.
Having Peace of Mind to be Creative also captivates other people around you with a sense of encouragement or a feeling of higher aspirations for themselves, knowing that they too can create “peace of mind” and happiness by “enquiring carefully from within”, and then taking the necessary steps to get there.
Peace of Mind takes you to a different level of thought power and sets your mind to discover your own unique personality from within.
So you connect with your inner self in your own special way because this makes it natural to you, even as you go through challenges.
You’ll then appreciate that going through challenges is part of life and as long as you live, you’ll have challenges, so why not co-operate with your inner mind in harmony with yourself, seeking the peace of mind that afford you to fully understand yourself and what you want in life on a deeper level.
You see, some people just drift through life, and then wonder why things just don’t improve in their lives.
All that can change by carefully and gradually getting in tune with your life’s true desires, slowly but steadily.
The exercise of creating “Peace of Mind” should be practiced diligently until “Peace of Mind” is felt from within. Then the habit of maintaining peace of mind should be continued on a daily basis.
In doing this, there must be no mental hurry, strain, or anxiety to the body because when you have peace on your mind in harmony with your inner self, you are connecting with your true inner mind’s desires, understanding that “Peace of Mind” can skyrocket your creative abilities in a magnificent way.
Now, you may ask, how can this process be started when there seems to be so much for people to juggle with in modern day living?
OK, the first thing here is learning how to Relax, so that you can start on a platform of absolute relaxation because this is where you’ll begin to discover your own peace of mind.
Examples of how to start include:.
Breathing and Medication Exercises
You can start with simple breathing exercises and meditation. Look for a quiet location and make yourself comfortable, now take a few deep breaths then exhale with a feeling of ripples of relaxation going through you.
Make this a very personal experience and gradually peace of mind would begin to transpire as part of your personal life. Feel your body accepting this peace of mind and totality basking in your ideal peaceful desires. Make time to do this at least 15 minutes daily, believing that you already have it.
Images of Your Ideal Peaceful Scene
Create mental images of your Ideal desires surrounded with Peace and Love around you. Ask yourself questions like – what would give me a feeling of absolute peace right now? Make this picture as realistic as possible for you, and keep this picture steady in your Mind daily, with absolute belief.
Simple Positive Self Talk
Aim to communicate positively with yourself and others around you on a daily basis and repeat statements like the following at least 20 times a day, once again, believing that this is you, creating absolute peace in your Life.
Ok, let’s say this together:
“I have absolute Peace of Mind in my life and this Peace of Mind affords me a fuller expression of things that I do, in harmony with my true creative energy”
Or you could say:
“Peace of Mind is always present and improving in my life on a daily basis”.
Understand that for some people, it may take some time for these statements to sink in, but do not concerned yourself of this because just as you eat food, this is “Peaceful” food for your mind.
At the same time, don’t seek anxiously to measure how this “Peace” is working within you.
Because it’s working on a subconscious level and in time it will begin to transpire in your daily life just as you proclaim and believe it.
Other sources of peace of mind would include your favourite music, walking in natural surroundings, your hobby, helping others understand and express peace in their lives, and living with a mental attitude that cultivates peace of mind.
And what would all this do for you?
It will eventually afford you the absolute pleasure of discovering your very own unique “Joy of living” that comes from deep within you. It builds harmony with your conscious and subconscious mind, allowing you over a period of time to eventually become Master of your own environment and circumstances around you, wherever you may be.

On the eve of Father’s Day 2006 I nearly lost my husband, the father of five children, in an auto water immersion accident. Fortunately, he miraculously escaped his sinking car, but would have avoided his traumatic ordeal if he had known that the only reliable way to break a car window is to use a tool made specifically for this purpose.
Annually, hundreds of people can avoid similar experiences and even death in water immersion accidents if they had reliable auto escape tools, the perfect Father’s Day gift! Most people don’t know that a car window is made of tempered glass. It is so strong you can hit it with a brick and it won’t break. Many dry land deaths, where a person is trapped in his/her car, can also be prevented if the driver or passenger kept a tool that is designed to cut a seat belt.
There are several auto escape tools available to the public that claim they are effective. But I have found only a few that are reliable enough that even police, fire and rescue, and EMS departments use them. One is a tool called a life hammer that will shatter a car window and slice through a jammed seat belt, allowing you to escape with your life.
Another is a key chain version of a life hammer which will also cut a seat belt and break a car window. A key chain auto escape tool will fit comfortably on your key chain but is also powerful enough to break a tempered glass car window and slice through a seat belt like a hot knife through butter.
Police Officer Ashton Packe had this to say about his experience with the key chain auto escape tool: “On 8/22/05 I responded to a head-on collision where one vehicle was on fire with the driver trapped inside. Thanks to the key chain auto escape tool, I was able to instantly shatter the window and with the help of my partner drag the unconscious driver away, just as the car became fully engulfed in flames”.
Oleg Cytowicz was assisting as a volunteer fireman at the scene of a horrible auto accident in New Jersey. His partner hit the window with a life hammer to gain access. “A life hammer is quick, effective, requires no training – and it’s reliable and durable.
Because these tools have been proven to be effective at breaking a car window and cutting a jammed seat belt, I knew a life hammer and key chain auto escape tool were the perfect Father’s Day gifts for my husband. Both can save lives. A good quality life hammer will sell for about $ 15.00 and a key chain auto escape tool for less than $ 10.00.
Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think that someone close to me would experience a near death situation, but they did. Don’t let this happen to you or a loved one. Give him a Father’s Day gift that could save his life.
These tools are the perfect Father’s Day gift. They will give you “peace of mind” knowing that, in an auto emergency, your loved ones are protected.

Radio programme discussing male workers in childcare, specifically the utter lack of them and the issues surrounding it. This was very supportive to men, fathers and the issue itself, which while the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation, not the US ABC) is almost always even-handed and fair across the entire organization, I appreciate it nevertheless as someone who cares about this topic personally.
